Dr. Natalka Kohut is an integrative veterinarian who specialises in manual therapies with a Graduate Diploma in Animal Biomechanical Medicine, focusing on the natural movement and structural alignment of dogs and horses.  She services Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula, working from select clinics and some mobile services.  

Animal Biomechanical Medicine is a specialised field that focuses on the biomechanical function of the animal’s body. It encompasses the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders through non-invasive manual therapies and involves rehabilitation strategies to assist in maintaining balanced movement.  This approach is particularly beneficial for animals experiencing pain or mobility issues from a range of conditions including osteoarthritis, injuries or degenerative diseases. 

Osteopathy in animals focuses on the interrelationship between the structure and function of the body. By using hands-on techniques, we can identify and treat areas of tension and restriction in the musculoskeletal system. It is a gentle practice that dogs and horses appear to truly love. 

The body has an innate ability to heal itself, and we are the facilitators to assist in that process.  

This is my philosophy when treating your pets.   

Chiropractic care for animals involves the adjustment and alignment of the spine and other joints to alleviate discomfort, improve function and enhance overall health. These adjustments are performed with gentle and precise movements, tailored to the needs of each individual patient. The goal is to correct any misalignments that may be causing pain or restricting movement, thereby promoting natural healing and better function.  It is not as portrayed on You Tube.  It is rare for there to be an audible sound (cavitation), and the adjustments are very gentle.  To be honest, it will look like I am not doing anything at all, until you see the response in your animal.   

 If your pet has certain anxieties I will take as much time as needed to help them participate in the treatment process. I strive to promote a non-clinical environment to help animals relax,    incorporating calming tools like essential oils,  calming music, promoting an almost lounge- room type feel.  Most importantly I listen to their body language to know when they need a break.  I know that you know your animal best and I am open to be guided by you in the treatment process and ask for your active participation.  I work really hard to instill a sense of trust, and hope that they quickly learn to love the treatment process.
